Does everything happen for a reason? Are there purposes in life? See, for the longest time I believed the meaning of life was simple - we&#8217;re all just super-intelligent organisms that have extraneous emotions and desires. However, in the past, a multitude of events have occurred that seem to create&#8230; a story out of my life.</span></div> <div><span><br/></span></div> <div>That life is practically worthless. For some reason, I fail to meet my vital expectations. I feel as if I only seek short-term enjoyments in everything I do. I always want to just  play games, chase girls, read, dance bhangra, etc. In the end, however, NONE of these seem to achieve some sort of long-term appreciation. I realize the problem, yet I rarely acknowledge it. In addition, I still want a future. I want to make something out of my life, and I want to have a wife, a son and/or daughter to raise, etc. My worthlessness seems to trump over any possibility of such a future.</div> <div></div> <div>Then, events start to occur. On an innocent, Thursday afternoon, I was in a car with my friends about to enjoy some lunch. Unexpectedly, the driver swerves too hard to miss a car. He hits the median, and our SUV flips over onto the other lane. Our speed was too overbearing for the impact, and we continued to roll over 6 times. As the SUV came to a final fall, I smashed my onto something hard. It was the roof of the car that </div> <div><span>met the road.<span> </span></span></div> <div></div> <div><span><span><span>Death SHOULD have been imminent; such an accident should have caused much damage to myself. To my surprise, however, nothing happened. My friends, despite the scratches and cuts from shards of glass entering skin, were perfectly fine. Nothing happened to me, bar the slight neck misplacement due to the impact, </span></span><span>The EMT told us that, in these accidents, usually ONE person shouldn&#8217;t survive. With a slight crease forming in her lips, she told</span></span> us that &#8220;someone must have been watching over you&#8221;. Those words gave me a strange, rather eerie feeling.</div> <div></div> <div>Another accident happened exactly a week later. I was in another friend&#8217;s SUV (go figure) and a foreign driver missed a stop sign and slammed his rental into my passenger side. This accident was less serious, and I wasn&#8217;t harmed. Regardless, it also gave me that weird feeling.</div> <div></div> <div>A few weeks later, I was doing something illegal in public with a friend. We were by an abandoned spot of land, with no one in sight. Out of nowhere, we hear what sounded like a voice trying to break through static and radio waves to talk through a walkie talkie. We weren&#8217;t alone. We run to my car, and I drive off in the distance only to find a police car  turning into the empty street. I drive by, acting normal. In my mirror reflection, I see the patrol car making a three point turn. He follows us through neighborhoods and roads for a few minutes, my buddy and I acting calm. At the next intersection, I turned right and he turned left. Just like that. He stopped following us. I had that feeling again.</div> <div></div> <div>This feeling is complicated to explain&#8230; but it makes me feel as if there is some purpose to my life, attached to a certain thread of destiny, just waiting to happen as time goes on. I cheated the police (a criminal record could diminish the possibility of achieving something) and I cheated death. There<em> must</em> be a reason that I&#8217;m still here</div> <div></div> <div>Then again, I could be a super-intelligent organism that experiences extraneous emotions such as this rant, self-actualization, or whatever. Only time will tell. For now, though, I need to put a spin onto things and make a change.
